Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

There’s nothing complicated about this savory and delectable char-grilled recipe! Grilled Cucumbers and Yellow Squash with Dorot Herbs makes for a seamless and sizzling late summer side dish!

If you’re anything like I am you’re looking forward to autumn but are still loving the bountiful produce that late summer provides. My local market hooked me up good with gorgeous cukes and yellow squash this week. And just because we had a little drizzle this morning, didn’t mean I couldn’t create a fragrant and gratifying grilled recipe…my grill pan was sitting pretty and ready to go.

Grilled Cucumbers and Yellow Squash with Dorot Herbs, made with crushed garlic and chopped basil, can be ready in no time.

Perhaps you’ve seen these cute little packages in your local grocer and have always wanted to know more…. I got my Dorot pre-packaged frozen garlic and basil from the frozen foods section of Trader Joe’s, but Wegmans, Whole Foods and a number of others carry it, too.

Dorot grows their own garlic, basil, cilantro, parsley, chili and ginger.  At the peak of freshness, they pull their products from the fields, process and flash freeze into convenient trays within 90 minutes of harvest. <—— You read that right – 90 minutes of harvest! And with a full-year shelf life, there’s never an excuse to not have fresh garlic, onions and herbs year round.

With a simple “pop” of the tray, we can have fresher than fresh flavors in mere seconds!

Dorot pre-portioned garlic, onions and herbs eliminate chopping and measuring, making it effortless for us to season and flavor our favorite dishes.

From soups to stews, sauces to marinades, Dorot’s fresh and frozen garlic and herbs has got us covered.

I’m thrilled to have found Dorot! For those days when there’s no time for peeling and chopping and mincing and pressing – Dorot will be my first choice!

Buon Appetito!

I’ve been using Dorot for years. Seriously SUCH a convenient product, especially in the winter when herbs are sparse. And I love what you did with them!

I’ve totally seen these cute little packages at the grocery store and wondered about them! But now that I know you love them, I can too! 🙂 This grilled recipe is such a fantastic way to use the last bits of summer produce before it gone. 🙂 You know I totally can’t wait til you release your fall recipes, but I’ll also be sad to not see anymore of your awesome grilling ideas… The red wine vinegar, the garlic, the basil, everything looks and sounds SO tasty! Pinning, of course! Have a great week my friend. xo

I’ve never heard of Dorot herbs, or even seen them, Annie. But we don’t have a TJ’s or Whole Foods around here… so?? They sound SUPER convenient though! I absolutely LOVE anything that allows me to be just a tad bit more lazy. lol! I’ll have to look to see if I can find them around here next time I’m at our stores. Anyways, YAY to still using the grill! It’s in the 80’s here, so while I am loving everyone’s fall recipes (and I’m making them myself for the blog), in real life I’m eating things like THIS! I LOVE grilled squash, but can you believe I’ve never grilled a cucumber!? I know!! I NEED to get on this, right?! This is a perfect side dish, mi-dear! Pinned!! Cheers, lovely! xo

The grilled cukes with this marinade has a slight pickle-y flavor, which is actually no surprise…. So good, though! Let’s hear it for grillin’! Hey – we can grill all winter with our handy grill pans…Am I right?! Theee best! Thanks, my dear! xoxo

Yep – I took it right down to the wire! The next time you stop by the colors and flavors will be noticeably more fall….Well, actually, the next is more of a transition recipe… Anyway – thanks for the compliment! Nothing like perfect sear marks!! 🙂

Zucchi=ni and yellow squash are this gardener’s secret summer shame! Those zucchini plants I nursed along all spring suddenly go ballistic as soon as the weather really heats up. What once was a promising little squash suddenly seems as big as your arm! Proof we all need as many zucchini and yellow squash recipes as we can get. Keep up the delicious work. GREG

Truth!! What are we to do with squash as big as our arm without creative ways to prepare it?! Can you imagine if all we knew was to steam it?! Thanks for stopping by with a kind word, my friend! 🙂

Annie, this dish sounds so simple – but, won’t you know, I’ve never grilled cucumbers! Boyoboy am I missing out! I used to use Dorot when I first started this blog, then they vanished off of Kroger’s shelves (where I used to get them from) – next time I’m at TJ’s or WF’s I will have to look for them!
