These Fresh Berry & Nutella Crostini are a must for Valentine’s Day!
What’s your idea of the perfect little nibble?
This simple yet sweet-looking crostini is perfect for breakfast, brunch or dessert. It even makes for a satisfying mid-day snack.
I. am. a. fan. of. crostini.
Crostini works for so many occasions, and it never disappoints. Sweet or savory – I’ve yet to meet the person who was like, “Yeah, no, I’m good here. I’ll pass on that perfectly toasted baguette crowned with that exquisite-tasting topping.” Have you?
INGREDIENTS FOR FRESH BERRY & NUTELLA CROSTINI:
- Fresh berries…I used strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries
- Nutella
- Salted butter
- Baguette
- Powdered sugar
HOW TO PREPARE FRUIT TOPPED CROSTINI:
- Start with a lovely sliced white bread baguette.
- Butter each round with a little salted butter and set in the oven to toast.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, and top with a hearty smear of Nutella and a scattering of your favorite berries.
- Finish with a couple fresh mint leaves and a light sprinkle of powdered sugar.
COOK’S NOTES:
- I am happy enough to dip a fresh berry in Nutella and call it a day, but the combination of fruit and Nutella on a perfectly toasted crostini is a whole ‘nother story.
- Believe it or not, the mint is the star of the show! What mint does to pull the flavors together is pure magic.
- The perfect bite!
Happy Valentine’s Day, my dears!
