Cranberry Pecan Compound Butter is the fixin’ you didn’t know you needed to top your favorite holiday bites!
I’m not usually one to long for something more when it comes to topping my English muffin. Salted butter. Sure. Peanut butter. Bring it. Orange marmalade. You betcha. But recently, I thought to myself – there’s got to be more than this. And I was right.
It’s a good day for making flavored butter. Compound butter, to be exact. Do you know what that is?
Compound butter is prepared by mingling sweet or savory ingredients with softened butter. Simple as that.
The thing I love about compound butters is that their possibilities are endless.
Want to elevate your steak? How about chopped fresh herb compound butter?
Want to heighten your chicken, roasted fish or corn-on-the-cob? How about a parsley-lime combo?
Roasted butternut squash or French toast? Maple-pecan fits the bill.
I’d be willing to bet that you have everything you to make this scrumptious butter right now. The perfect accompaniment to not only muffins, but pancakes, scones, and yes, even sweet potatoes…
INGREDIENTS:
- Softened butter
- Dried cranberries or whole cranberry sauce
- Orange zest
- Brown sugar
- Chopped pecans
HOW TO MAKE CRANBERRY PECAN COMPOUND BUTTER:
In a small bowl, combine butter, cranberry, orange zest, brown sugar, and 1/3 cup chopped pecans.
Place a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter, and spoon butter mixture into the center.
Roll the butter tightly in the plastic wrap to form a log.
Wrap in foil and freeze until ready to use.
When ready, remove from foil and plastic, let it soften slightly, and roll in remaining chopped pecans.
Slice into pats to serve.
Nooks and crannies have never felt so seen. Dressed up, as if going to a Christmas ball, my English muffin, coupled with a steaming cup of cinnamon coffee, made my breakfast feel extra special. Yep, I’ll have this elegant butter kicking around the fridge for the entirety of the holiday season, and then some!
Buon Appetito!

That is just so lovely. Great idea, as I’m usually making savory butters. But I like that this one isn’t sweet, so to speak. And, I happen to have some English muffins!

Thanks, Mimi! It is so pretty – and so tasty! Enjoy your English muffins!
