Do you guys remember the show Happy Days?
Ya know – Fonzie, Richie, Joanie, Chachi, Potsy, Ralph Malph, Mr. & Mrs. “C”, and Pinky Tuscadero…
Tuesday night TV.
I’m pretty sure Laverne & Shirley was on that night, too – maybe Solid Gold – no, that was Thursday night…Little House on the Prairie… Okay – you see what’s happening here – going off the rails a bit…this post is not about my favorite shows of the 70’s, but this pink donut…a donut, which in my mind, is the Pinky Tuscadero of donuts.
Pink and a little sassy; this donut makes all the other donuts turn and look…much like Pinky did whenever she made her entrance at Big Al’s…
We’ve got layer upon layer of strawberry here and that my friends makes this donut stand out in a crowd.
And better still? It’s baked, making it healthy and more cake-like. Covered in glaze made with fresh strawberries, a little jam, and a light snowfall of confectioners’ sugar, this donut takes the cake for cute and romantic. Do you see it?
So if you’re wondering what to make this weekend, here you go.
My recommendation – as they’re best eaten the day they’re made – get up Sunday morning, make yourself a cup of tea, or like in my case – a very strong cup of coffee, bake and glaze, and present as breakfast in bed to all your sweet little Valentines.
This recipe makes 18 donuts and the glaze makes enough to dip these babies three times each, if you’re so inclined.
There’s no doubt the recipients will have only one thing to say….
“Ayyyyyyyyyyyy”! (~Fonzie)
Buon Appetito!

The color of these alone is captivating. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before on a FB post or where I originally saw these beauties, but you’ve inspired me Annie to finally go get a baking donut pan. Love the cake like quality and I bet with buttermilk they would be a knockout, too. I want these. Today. 🙂
Annie says
Oh goodness, such a tender little buttermilk doughnut that would be! I highly recommend you buy the pan, my friend! Thank you!! 🙂
