- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 (14 oz.) cans Italian plum tomatoes, chopped
- salt
- black pepper
- 1 lb. pasta
- 2 Tbsp. chopped flat leaf parsley or fresh basil, optional
Instructions
- Heat oil in a skillet.
- Add onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes and cook, over medium high heat, stirring frequently, until soft and golden, about 8 minutes.
- Add tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 15 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta in a large pot.
- Add your choice of herbs, to the hot sauce.
- Toss pasta with the sauce and serve.
