- Cookies
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Icing
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- blue food coloring
Instructions
- For the cookies, add butter and sugar to a large bowl and mix until light and fluffy.
- Next, add the egg, vanilla, salt and flour. Mix until fully combined.
- Chill dough for about an hour.
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thick, and using the cookie cutter, form cookies.
- Place on cookie sheets and bake for about 10 minutes or until cookies are firm.
- Remove cookies from sheets and cool on wire racks.
- For the icing, combine all ingredients and beat until smooth.
- Separate frosting in individual bowls and add food coloring to create different gradations of color.
- Frost, decorate, and eat!
