Description

Rustic Orange Marmalade & Almond Crostata, so simple and delicious, a perfect dessert for those of us who want homemade but don’t want fuss.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup salted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes

1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. ice water

910 ounces orange marmalade

1 egg whisked, for brushing the crust

1/4 cup sugar, for sprinkling the crust

1 cup sliced almonds for decorating

Instructions

In a large bowl place the flour, butter and water.

Mix with your hands until everything is combined and the dough becomes a solid mass.

Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and form into a disk.

Wrap the dough with plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 F.

Cut a piece of parchment the size of a baking sheet.

Remove the dough and dust the surface of the parchment lightly with flour. Roll out the dough on the parchment to about a 12-inch circle. Don’t worry if it’s not perfectly round.

Spread the center with store bought or homemade marmalade.

Gently fold up the sides, pleating as you go.

Brush egg wash around the edges and sprinkle with sugar. You can add the almonds now or upon removal from the oven.

Bake for about 30 minutes or until the edges are golden.

Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

Slice and serve.
