Refreshing and light, this Limoncello Cocktail with Gelato can be ready in the time it takes you to grab your sandals and your sunscreen and get your face in the sun!
We made it! Summer is here(!), which means it’s time to throw open the windows and let the curtains dance in the breeze. It’s the law you know…throwing open the windows to let lilac-perfumed air come in from the cold.
And who are we to argue with the law?
Summer law that sweet-talks us into slowing down. Law that makes it possible to enjoy a slow dancing curtain, chirpy birdsongs at sunrise, and the scent of barbecue hanging heavy just outside the screen door. And let’s not forget the musical stylings of Otis Redding and The Beach Boys to add melody to our days.
This time of year I like to slow the paces at Ciao Chow Bambina. Seems like just yesterday I lowered the tempo for Summer 2016, and here we are again, in the blink of an eye and two years later, Summer 2018.
I’ll still be posting, but at a rate that mirrors the ebb and flow of my favorite little lake up north. A lake with its pint-sized beach just large enough to accommodate a handful of cherry-colored Adirondack chairs, with views spectacular enough for summer weddings adorned by Mother Nature herself.
I don’t know – maybe I put the breaks on this time of year because the internal schedule that came along with being a student and an educator for so long is built into me for life.
It feels natural for me to steady my paces and fill up in the summertime.
I hope you all have a superb Memorial Day! Perhaps you have a parade to attend, and I’m keeping you from dusting off your folding chairs? Or maybe you’re readying your grill for its first sizzle of the season? Or hopefully you have everything you need for this Limoncello Cocktail with Gelato and you’re stirring up a batch? A batch that’s lemony and fizzy and sweet and creamy and refreshing… A cocktail designed to usher in summer….
Made with one part Limoncello, two parts Spumante, a scoop of lemon gelato and a slice of fresh lemon – it is summer in a glass!
If you’re anything like I am then you’ll be sipping on this beauty all day long.
Here’s to a happy and safe summer, my friends!
See you in the sunshine!
Salute!

I saw this in my inbox and flipped! I adore Limoncello! When we were in Italy last year, my daughter and I would buy medium sized bottles of Limoncello and enjoy it with froyo and gelato – it was so so good! And so I’m all about having a chill evening with a glass or five of this Limoncello Cocktail with Gelato!
By the way, I have so been enjoying your photos of Lake Placid on social! Hoping you have a wonderful, carefree and relaxing summer, Annie!
Annie says
If nothing else brings you back to your memories of Italy (which could never happen! 😉 ) this certainly will! I love that! Thank you so much! We spend as much time as we can up there, especially during the warmer months! Wishing you a joyful summer as well, my friend!

We make limoncello for gifts during the holidays – I love it! And that little scoop of gelato is a wonderful idea, makes the cocktail extra special.
