Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookies are thick, chewy, chocolatey and riddled with a nutty crunch that puts them at the top of the heap!
With the move of our eldest daughter this past weekend, I couldn’t help but fall down the rabbit hole of memories…. One memory that surfaced pretty quickly, and this for its ability to hit all the memory-making modalities, contained warm cookies and happy faces.
We have had our fair share of travel with the kids – from family vacations to college visits. One place that became a regular in our rotation of ‘homes away from home’ was the DoubleTree Hotel. Have you guys ever stayed? Yes? Then you know the magic of which I speak. No? Then I just might be helping DoubleTree drum up some new business. 😉 (This post is not sponsored.)
Here’s the deal – upon check-in, every member of your party is given a soft, chewy, warm-from-the-oven cookie. Delivered to you in a tiny slip of a bag, (they’re very good at building anticipation), you hear the crinkle of the little pouch, smell the aroma of freshly baked cookies, and you know what is coming. I’m certain the first time we had them there was nothing left but melty chips on little hands and satisfied repeat customers. And this was before we even stepped foot off the elevator. Oh mannnn! This is a COOKIE! <—–Written in Cookie Monster’s voice.
BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE OF ALL TIME?
Well, let’s see… Soft. Chewy. Chocolatey. Tasty. Easy. Perfect. Dunkable. Delicious cookies. I say yes!
HOW TO MAKE DOUBLETREE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES:
- Grind oats in a food processor or blender until fine.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground oats with the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
- In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, and lemon juice.
- Add the eggs and mix until smooth.
- Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture and blend well.
- Add the chocolate chips and nuts to the dough and mix by hand until ingredients are well blended.
- For best results, chill dough overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Spoon rounded 1/4 cup portions onto cookie sheet.
- Place the scoops about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 14 – 16 minutes or until cookies are light brown and soft in the middle.
It’s hard to pinpoint what makes this cookie so magical. Is it the ground oats? The abundance of chips? The soft bite? The nutty crunch?
I say it’s all of it…and then some. I think DoubleTree mixes a little happy-memory-making pixie dust into their dough. In fact, I would say it’s the first ingredient.
And now we can make them at home! 🙂
Buon Appetito!
