I am so happy to be joining forces once again with a wonderful troupe of bloggers for this season’s Sweetest Season Cookie Exchange to benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
This charity, founded in 2008, is committed to funding research to help develop less toxic, more effective treatments for children battling cancer. They provide inspiration and support to individuals, businesses, and organizations to raise funds by hosting grassroots bake sales and other fund raising events. Who doesn’t love a homemade treat?
A homemade treat that is:
- simple to make
- combines match-made-in-heaven chocolate and peppermint
- and adds something special to your holiday cookie trays?
Oh man, I love a good biscotti – as evidenced by this, this, this, this, anddd this.
Biscotti is probably the cookie that I make most often.
And although it’s a regular around these parts – you’d think it’s the first time I’ve made them whenever Dom sees a new batch in the pantry! The discovery usually results in a happy dance!
My guy loves a good biscotti. Loves it.
As you can plainly see – there’s a lot of biscotti love in this house!
A perfect little treat to make special holiday moments even more memorable…
Speaking from experience – biscotti will elevate a family game of rummy, they will turn your after dinner cup of coffee into an event, and they’ll even make your drive to work more fun!
Easy, delicious, festive and cute… What more could a person need in their twice-baked cookie?
Buon Appetito!

Description
These festive Chocolate Candy Cane Biscotti will help Santa make his rounds in record time! Leave a few of these delectable bites out with a big glass of milk, or better yet, a double expresso – and Santa will be good to go!
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1/2 cup crushed candy cane
1/2 cup milk chocolate discs, melted
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 F.
In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients.
In a smaller bowl, whisk together the eggs and egg whites.
Add egg mixture to dry ingredients. Using a hand mixer on medium speed, mix until moist.
Add crushed candy canes and mix again until combined. Batter will have a look of crumbles but will come together when you form it.
On a floured surface, divide batter in half.
Pat each into a log about 14 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide.
Place logs on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and reduce temperature to 300 F.
Cut biscotti diagonally into 1/2 inch slices.
Stand them upright on the cookie sheet and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Dip one end of the biscotti in melted chocolate and sprinkle with crushed candy cane. Let cool.
Enjoy!
